Key Position Survey Results: Over
One-Third of Manufacturers see their Website Critical to
Lead Generation Efforts
According to the results of an internet marketing survey
conducted by Key Position Web Marketing, over one-third
of manufacturers view their website critical to lead generation
efforts. Another 35% said it was important, while the remaining
30% said it was somewhat important.
Among the biggest challenges that manufacturers face within
the next 12 months, generating and attracting new clients
topped the list. Maintaining and growing market share was
second, followed by competing more effectively against domestic
and foreign competition.
Top uses of company websites included: resource for company
information, sales lead generation, online product and services
catalog, online technical information, and online service
and support.
When asked what key benefits you receive from the current
use of your website, the most common answer was to provide
company and product information to website visitors and
customers. Other top responses included: strengthen image
and company reputation, improve communication with customers
and improve competitive position.
According to the survey results, most manufacturers will
be implementing many online initiatives within the next
12 to 24 months. Topping the list included redesigning their
websites, implementing internet marketing programs (including
search engine optimization (SEO) and Pay-Per-Click (PPC)
tactics and engaging email marketing programs for customer
retention.
Overall, the biggest hurdles to overcome when it came to
implementing online initiatives included lack of funding,
lack of internal website and marketing skills and weak online
strategy.
The most surprising finding of the survey was that 65%
of all manufacturers do not measure the success of their
website.
